Hello Grade 9 UMEI students. My country that I will be blogging about over the next couple months is the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The UAE is a very interesting country that is not very well known because of its location on the earth. It is located on the shore of the Persian gulf and has a area of 82,880 sq. km, which is approximately the size of the state of Maine. Its major cites include Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The UAE is very rich in its oil, which is how it gets all the money for its major buildings and technologies. Its main terrain includes desert, and little agricultural area. The UAE is mainly supported by its oil. The UAE's population as of 2009 is 8.9 million people. Be sure to stick around my blog for future posts about my interesting country. See y'alls!

Wow that's very interesting Sam. You were right, it's not too well known. I have never heard of it before. My country is Spain, it has 504 782 square kilometres, that's 421 902 square kilometres larger than yours. Also, it says that your country is consists mostly of deserts and little agriculture, Spain consists mostly of urban area. So far it looks like our countries don;t have too much in common between size, land and population. I will have to come back to see if they have any similarities in other areas!
